The Vision
“The vision allows me to create the dream of achieving true harmony with the land I live on and living a truly healthy lifestyle. Selva Armonia provides the epitome of the holistic lifestyle. For me there is nothing like producing our own foods and medicines, working the land with our own hands, achieving excellent health by means of regular daily activities such as gardening, surfing, and hiking, while also contributing to the health and wellness of Planet Earth by supporting the biodiversity of SW Costa Rica thru reforestation efforts and sustainable practices. Being able to also create and share an opportunity for truly sustainable tourism and living practices is a huge bonus . Playing music in the jungle, eating unimaginable fruits, and surfing pristine beaches is a lot of fun too. Hopefully I will get to share this experience with you."

Selva Armonia means “Harmony Jungle.” As musicians, we value the life changing impact that true harmony has on all life. We've created Selva Armonia to be a little piece of heaven where environmentally and socially conscious people can own property, live, learn, play, grow and vacation in harmony with nature, participate in a lifestyle of personal growth, eat locally grown food from our community gardens, and live together in paradise.
The vision represents contemplative community development that is directed towards creating productive and profitable sustainable systems while preserving as much of the natural environment as possible. In addition, Selva Armonia is here to facilitate and create a unique natural lifestyle opportunity coupled with personal growth and development for our residents and guests.
We know that life is for living with full enjoyment! We recognize that nature, fresh local foods, community, friendship and personal growth are the simple but essential elements that create harmony, personal growth, health, vitality and stability for human beings.
We know that when we make a choice to live more in harmony with each other and our natural environment, we experience a way of being that is natural and less stressful; and it follows that we begin to transform our world into a better place by the examples we create!
We have created Selva Armonia to be a safe haven for creative living and to create a model of possibility for others to be able to learn from!

Josh Wendel
Conscious Development & Property Management
Josh Wendel moved to Costa Rica in 2005 to create and live a healthy lifestyle based on his passions for community, nature and whole foods. Originally from Florida, Josh has a backround in natural medicine, Chinese medicine, gardening, music, and natural foods. Before moving to Costa Rica, he owned a Colorado based raw foods company called “The Jungle.” He left that behind for the real jungles of Costa Rica to really walk the talk: to live the lifestyle that he was promoting so heavily through natural foods.
Currently he owns a natural foods restaurant in Dominical, C.R. called “Marakatu.” Selva Armonia is a manifestation designed to bring all of his passions together: whole foods, community, music, and natural living. In addition, it is a contribution to the world that models sustainability on all levels, health, wellness and harmonious living! He hopes to inspire and teach others to live and create communities in this way.

Cheri Shanti
Retreat Coordinator & Project Support
Cheri Shanti has been creating, organizing and facilitating unique, and transformational experiences for people across the country for the past 10 years. Her work connects Spirituality, Community, Health, Wellness, and Self Empowerment thru Creative Expression. Cheri came to Costa Rica for the first time as an Environmental Biology student in 1995 where she studied Tropical Ecology in the cloud forests of Monteverde. She is totally at home in the tropics as a Florida native and is here to help make your experience at Selva Armonia a dream come true. Her love and appreciation of nature have been guiding forces in her life and similar to Josh, she sees Selva Armonia as an opportunity to fully merge all of her passions into one simple and harmonious lifestyle that is filled with natural beauty, sustaiinability, community, music and personal growth!
She has been holding a vision for many years of co-creating a beautiful Retreat Community in the tropics where people can live, work and play close to nature and in community. Cheri and Josh met in 2003 in Boulder, CO and have found a beautiful opportunity in a shared vision to create something magical and life changing for others as well as themselves!
